Joshua believes in creating a warm and safe place where people can feel comfortable working through their difficulties and emerge with new strength. He does this by utilizing collaborative and empowering therapy methods that allow people to choose the tools that they feel best fit their needs and goals. Joshua works with adults, adolescents, individuals, couples, and families.

History & Education: Joshua was born in Chicago but grew up in West Michigan. He completed his undergraduate studies at Grand Valley State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science. Shortly after, Joshua moved back to Chicago where he spent five years working in a psychiatric hospital helping adults, adolescents, and children from diverse backgrounds with a broad range of mental health issues on both an individual basis, and in groups. His work there focused on helping people cope in times of crisis, heal from trauma, and regain the quality of life that they had lost. After returning to Michigan, Joshua completed his graduate studies at Western Michigan University for Counseling Psychology. After this he gained experience working at Western’s counseling center followed by an internship at Harbor Psychological Associates where he continues to work today as an associate in private practice. Joshua helps people work on a variety of issues including anxiety, anger, depression, trauma, grief, abuse, relational/marital issues, sexual issues, and family conflict. He is experienced in the use of psychological testing to aid both in the process of diagnosis and treatment, and has further enriched his knowledge base with additional training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (levels I & II).

Statement of Purpose: I strive to live a life of service, growth, balance, and happiness. To have the strength to adhere to my conscience, the courage and freedom to follow my own path, the knowledge and wisdom to empower others, and to always love, play, and spend time with my family.
